Participation in the 46th edition of the GERSEQ Conference

The eMetCO2 project was represented by the University of Alicante, namely by José Solla-Gullón, who delivered an oral presentation within the framework of Work Package 1 entitled: “Electrochemical CO₂ reduction to methanol: is it really possible?”. The presentation took place during the 46th Meeting of the Electrochemistry Group of the Spanish Royal Society of Chemistry (46GERSEQ), hosted at the Faculty of Chemistry of the University of Barcelona, Spain, from 7 to 10 July 2026.

The presentation focused on the work developed within WP1, dedicated to the synthesis and characterisation of new electrocatalysts and electrodes for the electrochemical conversion of CO₂ to methanol. In particular, the research involves the development and performance evaluation of Cu-derived and MOF-derived electrocatalysts, including nanoparticulated Cu-based materials and single- and dual-atom catalysts. Additionally, the key challenges associated with this route for methanol production were addressed. This contribution also supported the dissemination of the eMetCO2 project and its ongoing research activities.
