Goal and Scope Set for Methanol LCSA (21.05.2025)

Within the framework of WP3, and in collaboration with the team, the project has successfully defined the Goal and Scope for a prospective Life Cycle Sustainability Assessment (LCSA) of electrochemical methanol production. This milestone sets the foundation for evaluating the environmental, economic, and social impacts of the process, considering future technological advancements and planned process improvements. The assessment focuses on key aspects such as raw material sourcing, energy use, and production methods. The functional unit is set as 1 kg of methanol (99,8%). Foreground data will be provided by project partners, complemented by high-quality datasets from established LCA databases to ensure robust and relevant results.
